Change's a new

Thu, 13 Jan 2011 13:37:00 +0000

It is with much sadness that we announce that Arthur O'Sullivan our Dealer Principal has left the company. Arthur was with us for 8 1/2 years from the time we were located at Fishery Lane. He was the driving force behind the move to our current location on the Newbridge Road in Naas and he will be greatly missed by us all. "Thanks for everything Arthur and Good Luck in your future ventures". Our new Dealer Principal is our own Frank Kelly. Many of our customers will know Frank who was our Sales Manager and has been with us for a number of years. We wish Frank all the best in his new role.

We have appointed a new Volkswagen Brand Manager, Hugh Pitt. Hugh comes to us with a wealth of knowledge in the Motor Industry with 15 years experience. He along with Andre, Greg, John and Joe look forward to welcoming you into the Volkswagen showroom and helping you choose your next car.

We also have another new member of staff. Joe Lynch has joined us as our Light Commerical Business Development Manager. Joe comes to us with 25 years experience in both Wholesale and Retail Sales so if you are in the market for a new Light Commercial drop in and see Joe.

Another new staff member to join us is Gordon Geraghty. Gordon is our new Mercedes Brand Manager. He has 12 years experience in the Motor Trade and has always specialised in Mercedes Sales. If you are in the market for a new luxury Mercedes Benz call into the showroom and Gordon will be more than happy to help you out.

There have been a number of changes within our organisation during the last 12 months and we are now focused on 2011 with a new team and a new drive. Don't forget to check out our facebook page at www.facebook.com/pages.sheehymotorgroup.

Here's to a great 2011, lets make it a good one.

Winter Woes

Thu, 23 Sep 2010 08:54:00 +0000

Here we go again. Another season fo doom and gloom. Rain, snow and sleet. The last thing we need is to be stuck somewhere in all of this if our car breaks down. Coming into the winter months it is really important that we give our cars as much of a check over as we do ourselves, after all, they are vital in much of our day to day life.

First thing to have a look at are your tyres. The minimum depth required is 1.6mm, but in wet conditions this is really not a good idea. If the depth is below 3mm the lack of traction is moticeable and you may well have problems with grip in the wet conditions. Also you should check the wheel aligment due to the pretty lousy R road network and the county council budget cuts! For instance, is the steering pulling to one side? If it is or you feel the car jumpy then alignment may need to be checked.

One thing our guys have come across is poor grip due to cheap Chinese tyres (with no 'e' marking - a vital safety recommendation by our EU overlords; watch that one!)

Next thing to check is your anti-freeze or coolant. You can buy a bottle of coolant at any service point - just be sure to watch the quality. It is alcohol based and there is such a thing as bad alcohol  - trust me I know!

Are your brakes up to scratch? Last thing you need is for them to fail or lock up on you. Next time you're out in the car take notice of how the brakes "feel". Do they feel soft or 'spongy', are they engaging correctly or is this pedal moving to much? If so, get them checked.

OR, our lovely boys here can take the hassle out of your Winter Woes. We can do a full winter inspection or your car for as little as ?29.99. Give us a call on 045 906 600.
